Internships are opportunities for students to experience the real world of work. Currently, the apprenticeship program is one of the priorities of educational institutions, in line with the program being promoted by the government: Merdeka Learning – Merdeka Campus (MBKM).

The MBKM program is also supported by companies and other business organizations to create a conducive ecosystem to form a work-ready generation. One of the companies that support the MBKM  program is PT Integrity Indonesia, the owner of the Education Verification platform.

The internship journey at PT Integrity Indonesia was experienced by Brigitta Desteni, fondly referred to as Destin. Destin is a fifth-semester student at STIKOM Interstudi, Jakarta, who is currently doing an internship as a content writer.

Destin admits that she received many benefits while undergoing the internship program at PT Integrity Indonesia.

“During my internship, I was able to improve my writing skills because I am being mentored by senior content writers. I feel the benefits of internships as an opportunity to improve my skills and mentality. During my internship, I trained myself mentally as a professional worker and learned to adapt to the pressures of the working world,” she explained.

Internship bonus: involvement in CSR programs

Many other elements can be obtained in the world of work, apart from being a place to actualize oneself and gain prosperity. One element that cannot be underestimated is social responsibility.

As part of an ecosystem, companies must have concern for the environment and the surrounding community, in an effort to establish sustainability. This is what PT Integrity Indonesia does, and Destin feels the same way.

“It was an unforgettable experience. On November 5, 2022, PT Integrity Indonesia held a Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR activity by participating in a movement to clean up the trash in the Ciliwung River,” she expressed.

The CSR program themed “Experience Ciliwung” was held in collaboration with Ocean Kita and the Sahabat Ciliwung Foundation as part of a series of events celebrating the 21st anniversary of Integrity Asia. In this event, the employees carried out rafting activities while cleaning up the river and its surroundings of trash, especially inorganic waste.

“For me, this activity was an opportunity to practice teamwork. In the same boat, we have to row in the same direction as our teammates. Team members also have to communicate and care for each other,” she explained enthusiastically.

More than just an apprentice

The internship experience is the initial experience for students to dip their toes into the world of work. The impressions obtained during the internship will become a reference and benchmark for when students enter the world of work after graduation.

“From this experience, I take with me the meaning of the internship experience at PT Integrity Indonesia, namely that the world of work is not only limited to working behind a desk. More than that, when working, we should pay attention to the social and environmental factors around us,” she added.

According to Destin, working as an apprentice at PT Integrity Indonesia gave her a lot of positive energy. “The experience of working and being involved in social activities has made me more grateful and happier. ‘Complain less, appreciate more’, ” she concluded.
